1. Are there Battery Management System & Battery Fuel (Gas) Gauge built-in inside the battery ?

    Yes, except otherwise specified, all PCM/Batteries designed & manufacturered by BMTPow are with 

    built-in BMS & Battery Fuel (Gas) Gauge fucntions, these are standard features of our products.


2. Is BMTPow also a battery cell maker ?
    No, BMTPow only design & manufacture battery products base on market available battery cells;

3. How should I discuss a battery project with BMTPow ?
    Go to DESIGN SUPPORT section in our web site, fill in the Design Check List and email to us.

4. How to analyze the function & performance of a BMTPow battery (so as PCM) ?
    The function and performance of a BMTPow battery could be tested in normal way, e.g. Charge it,

    Discharge it with the rated voltage and current, measure the discharge time, etc.


    For users who specially interested to BMS behavior under special conditions, e.g. Over charge /

    discharge voltage, Over charge / discharge current, Over temperature, a BMT102N Smart Loader 

    could be attached to the SMBus port of the battery to read out the various information like individual 

    series voltage, battery temperature, battery capacity, cycle count, maximum interval between two 

    consecutive charges.


    With the BMT102N Smart Loader and dedicated Window software, user may find out the root cause 

    of a battery which has no output, not accepting charge or exhibits short running time;  Also by altering 

    protection parameters of a battery prototype, user is able to see how the battery response differently 

    and thus to fine turn the system parameters.

5. I knew little about my project requirements, how can I start a battery project ?
    A Lithium battery system (system here means a complete system consists of the Lithium batterybattery 

    charger and the load) could be very simple or could be very complicated, but it is very important to your

    application, overlooking it may result in delay in schedule, over budget, high system cost or even project 

    cancellation.


    We highly recommend users to check very carefully each entry of the Design Check List, and try to fill 

    in as much as possible.


    Key data may include but not limited to the followings:

  •         Type of battery cell preferred
  •         Battery voltage / Capacity
  •         Max Continuous discharge current
  •         Peak discharge current (amplitude, delay and frequency of occurences)
  •         Need for parallel cascade
  •         Need for communication
  •         .

6. Can I modify the BMS parameters by myself ?

    Yes, except otherwise specified, user may connect a BMT102N Smart Loader to the SMBus port of a 

    prototype battery and use the dedicated Window software (e.g. SBAA-3.6.9E.exe) to read/write the 

    BMS parameters.

    For production version batteries, they are normally sealed ex-factory, in this condition, writing is not 

    allowed, however user may unseal (unlock) it according to the unseal instruction in the FAQ.


7. Whatre the three operating modes of BT16Cs BMS platform ?

    Three operating modes are available in BT16Cs BMS platform, they are active mode, idle mode and 

    power down mode, the characteristics of these three modes are shown in the below table
