PVT: PILOT RUN VALIDATION AND TESTING

Validation & Testing:
- In Pilot Run, all functionality of Packs tested by Tester BMT300.
- Reliability testing such as thermal shock testing, over-current testing, short-circuit testing.
- In-Application Programmable through SMBus.

Parameters are updated by PackManager and Simulation Tools BMT100/108.

COMMUNICATION TESTING TOOLS

  • SMBus Port
    SMBus 2.0 communication protocol for smart battery system (SBS), firmware upgrade and parameter setting can be done by connecting the BMT102 Smart Loader.

    RS232 Port
    The RS232 port on the PCM is used to communicate with host system to exchange different kinds of battery information.

Cell Modeling and Safety Testing:
- Cell is charging and discharging in 10C rate under different temperature while the internal resistance and the cycle life is measured.
- Safety testing under extreme condition such as thermal shock, high current charging or discharging, over voltage charging, under voltage discharging etc. until the cell is swelled or deformed with no fire

DVT: BMS and Mechanical Design

  • Use the plastic holder to avoid the cells contact each other during the use.
  • Using heat conducting material to conduct the heat to aluminium enclosure so as to provide the lower temperature inside the pack.
  • Use Aluminium enclosure protect the core pack from external collision.
  • Use only the UL approved cable connector and insulation material
  • Use only flame retardant material for battery enclosure and cabling
  • Fulfil all mechanical test criteria of UN38.3
  • Fulfil all mechanical test criteria of UL2271
  • Design the enclosure so that it is air-tight sealed to prevent oxygen in contact with batteries

DVT: BMS AND MECHANICAL DESIGN

Mature BMS Technologies:
- BMS software design on the self-owned IC BM3328
- Compare with those low cost PCM solutions in the market, our PCM employs high speed 12-bit ADC for both temperature and voltage measurement, and extremely precise 18-bit Coulomb Counter ADC for current measurement.
- BMS3328 is used over 10 yrs and in +500 projects in BMS design experience , establishes a solid and mature BMS PCM for different projects.

Smart Charging Technologies:
When the temperature is lower than 10 deg. C in charging, the BMS will control the charging by pulse modulation.
